KKBN Pet Of The Week Contest
Below are the Pet Of The Week Winners!
- KKBN Pet of The Week (2/21/12)
Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet of the Week:
My dog Bandit, look’n cool! We found Bandit as a two week old pup in the road about a year ago and he came right in and became part of the family! This dog is awesome, he can sing and say “I love you.” He also loves to wear costumes. Most dogs rip them off, but Bandit will wear costumes and hats, in this picture he wears a scarf and glasses. He walks all over the house with them on. Bandit’s favorite thing to do is to go hiking, he even has his own backpack which he gets many complements on!

Christina

Meet Monty and Duke! Monty is our little 3 year old 6lb Deer Chihuahua (yes, that is his real breed’s name due to the length of their legs, long and narrow like a deer) and Duke, our 1 year old 105lb American Bulldog/Rottweiler mix. Monty and Duke are best buddies and do absolutely everything together. As you can imagine, Monty runs the household and is the boss because he is the “big” brother. These two dogs bring so much humor, joy, and love into our home and this picture I feel shows them at their best.

A Big KKBN Congrats to Kakao..our KKBN Pet Of The Week! Check out the story behind our winner!
Kakao is a 6 year old Dutch Sheppard who is truly the best dog-friend ever! Not only is she well trained and responsive to voice commands, she is the best companion on long day hikes to the top of Sierra mountain peaks (as pictured on top of the Dardanelle’s in July, 2011). With her doggie-pack on her back, she abounds with excitement at every opportunity to hit the track!
She is obsessed with tennis balls. There isn’t a place she goes without one in her mouth, hoping to awe some sucker into playing fetch. She will run miles and leap off rocks, never tiring to fetch her catch (such as she is pictured here at Cherry Lake in June, 2011.)
Despite she has four legs, she can swim like a fish. If there’s water, combined with a stick, she will be happy for hours. She is one dog that keeps me from being lazy and continues to love me like crazy!
Kakao is certainly one-of-a-kind and in my mind, the best dog-friend one can find!

This is Trey, he is a 25plus quarter horse gelding with a remarkable story.
Trey was a show horse and won many ribbons and such but when he no longer could show he was sold and passed around from owner to owner. He was sent to winton from San Diego by a seller to a lady who bought him sight unseen for a lesson horse. He did not work out for her so she decided to give him away. I was still recovering from a bad riding accident and I was drawn to Treys story of rejection so I went to meet him and took him home. Through the friendship of this horse I was able to overcome my fears of riding and together we have helped heal each other. Come to find out later after many rides that he was a halter horse in shows and was never ridden. I think its a true test of faith and trust that he has kept me safe on our journeys together and I could not ask for a better friend. I hope you agree that he truely is a “miracle” sent to me. And I would like him to be considered for amazing friend of the week!!!!
Sincerely,
Wanda Wolski and Trey

Ps. You and Bridgette rock my days Big Joe, we love your show!

Here Kitty Kitty Kitty…the first KKBN Pet of the week for 2012 is a cat named ‘ Scout”
Hello Big Joe and Bridgette, I have an 8 month old cat named Scout. He is very sweet and cute, when I walk down the driveway from school he comes up to meet me. He comes when I call and is such a great friend. He plays with our dogs rather than the cats which is quite odd, but very cute. He also loves to come in and sleep on our chair next to the fire to warm up. He has strange paws because in addition to normal toes he has thumbs!!!Even though he is a cat, he seems to listen when you talk and even watch a movie in your lap!!!

Emma

Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet of the Week Winner, who has the best smile and loves firefighters! Meet Dopey
Meet Dopey, he is our “baby” boxer, he is 2 years old. He likes to literally box with our 4 year old son. My son is always putting something on the poor dog, this time it was his fireman hat. He is such a mellow dog that he even waits for us to take his picture. We hope you find it as adorable as we do. Thank youThe Walkers - Christmas Pets Rock!
We receive many pictures each week for the KKBN Pet of the week contest! Here’s a bonus…. we’d like to share a couple of holiday themed pics that were sent this month. Enjoy and Merry Christmas
- And The Pet Of The Week Winner Is...(12/20/11)
This winner comes with a story…
How Cali ruined Christmas
Twas a week before Christmas
and Cali was Bored.
Dad had gone to the store.
She sat pouting in her chair
she didn’t wanna be alone anymore.
She stared at the presents wrapped up with care
oh, how she longed to be over there.
She knocked down her barricade
and bounded to the tree.
Determined to make this one heck of a spree.
She got down on her haunches
and made those brightly wrapped presents
her brand new lunch boxes
A sweet wooden Santa will make quite a nice treat
never mind that she wishes he was made of meat.
But Dad came home sooner than expected,
no time to hide the evidence that had collected.
Paper shreds, splinters, cardboard and more!
Why even a shaving kit was strewn about the floor!
It made Mommy sad to see such destruction
but Christmas goes on, as is it’s function.
Cus’ It’s not the tree nor the presents
that make this season so great,
It’s time with your friends, family, and mate!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
- KKBN Pet Of The Week (12/13/11)
This is Tails. She was born without her tail, so we compensated!! She is Black Lab & Great Dane. However, when Tails was 2 weeks old, her biological mother, for unknown reason, attacked her. She was seriously injured & had to be bottle fed. She also suffered from several seizures. But, at 8 months old, she is extremely healthy. Only thing is, she is only 25lbs & her doctor says, that’s as big as she is gonna get. So, we have ourselves a “Miniature Great Dane” Tails’ is a super smart dog. Her list of tricks (for a cookie) is endless. It includes Roll Over, which she mastered at 4 months old!! She is a great dancer & a very loyal friend. She loves kids & immediately takes on the responsibility of any great baby sitter!! She is a member of the Mata/Hartman family & we are so proud of her!!

Wow…now this is a winning picture! Check out this week’s winner of the KKBN Pet Of The Week: LASSIE
Meet Lassie
Lassie , my long coat Chihuahua, came to me 11 years ago as a rescue with a broken leg. I agreed to take her in as a foster mom, but quickly fell in love with her.
She has been my constant companion and slept with me every night. I am a photographer and she loved to be dressed up for all kinds of photos.
Unfortunately Lassie recently developed breast cancer and there was nothing that could be done for her in the short time she had left. She was always a happy dog and we loved her very much. I will never forget my Lassie.

She is a very playful, loving and very happy puppy! She’s also very good with children, and our smaller wiener dog puppy, she’s also very playful with the cat Jasmine. She’s a very cute puppy and we think she would be a great candidate for “The Mother Lode’s Pet of the Week!” Hope you enjoy her photos!

Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet of The Week! IRIS
Hi Big Joe and Bridgette,
I commute from Sonora to Modesto and listen to your show every morning!
Our family is nominating our 8 month old Rottweiler puppy, Iris, for the KKBN Pet of the Week Award. Iris is a smart puppy with a sense of humor. She likes to sit on the stairs. She is only allowed on the first stair, but you can see sometimes she gets sneaky. Iris also likes to do somersaults and chase her tail. She is gentle with children, and really wants to befriend our 10 year old cat Lilly. She smiles when she is happy. We are head over paws in love with her, and hope you enjoy the photos.

This is a first for the Pet Of The Week! Check out Snow the Crayfish!
Hello,
I want to submit this photo of my pet crayfish, Snow. She is new to me, but has quickly become a focus in our home. It’s not every day that you see a creature like this, and I would love to see her showcased as the “Pet of the Week”. She is living proof that animals of all shapes, sizes, and textures are wonderful additions to our lives.

Looky Looky! This week’s winner is a Trifecta of loved Pets:
This is my cat Mr. Dickens named after the author of course:) He is riding or curled up on our family donkey Jenny, and there is Kramer also smiling at you. Mr. Dickens aka Mr. Winky is a mischeivious cat–he winks at you then proceeds to throw everything off the table with a swipe of his paw–I can see the ghosts of Christmas Past visiting him to change his ways:) It is rare to see a cat friends with a donkey, but of course you just never know who your friends really are till you get to know them:) It is something humanity needs to learn for sure!!!!!!Hope you get a smile and laugh out of this!Eva Questo - And The Pet Of The Week Winner is....(11/01/11)

A Big KKBN Whoop Whoop and Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet Of The Week: Ty
Hello I’m writing you about our wonderful dog Ty. I know Ty has already been KKBN pet of the week last year, but this wonderful, amazing, special and loving companion has recently become an angel watching over us. We had to bear the loss of him for a couple weeks now and I would love to do one last tribute for him. He was my companion for 11 amazing years and I feel very privileged to have got to call him mine. He loved playing with his little brothers (Garret & Marshall pictured with him), fetching, swimming, hiking and any kind of activity. He was truly an amazing animal. Thank you for letting us share his legacy with everyone. Trent, Amy, Ariel, Isaac, Garret and Marshall.

Our Winner this week for the KKBN Pet of the week award is a Cool Cat named YURI! Check him out…
This is Yuri, our real-life Garfield (fat, orange, grumpy, omnivorous) adopted from the Human Society. His chatter, condescending looks and adorable “spontaneously kitten again” moments are just a few of the many things my fiancé and I cherish about out fur-kid.

Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet of The Week: Wheeters!
Big Joe and Bridgette,
Well here we are again! No not another black angus heifer, but this time it’s Cody’s Guinea Pig “Wheeters”, or as the family calls her “Weed Eaters!”
Cody has had Wheeters since she was 4 mos. old. He received her as an award for caring for a baby jack rabbit that his dad rescued in an old well and nursed it back to health and then letting it go when the rabbit was big and strong enough. Wheeters is definitely part of the family and always greets us when we come home from the end of the day by letting out loud, high pitched “wheats!” She is an Abysinian cross. Cody also loves to drive her around in his big Tonka Trucks out in the backyard. She might not agree with it, but she’ll tolerate it for Cody.
By the way, Baby Bridgette is hanging out with all the big cows now and doing great! She’ll still come up to you and give you a big ole’ lick on the face with her big ole’ wet heifer tongue! She’ll be with us forever and we’ll get to raise her children and possibly grandchildren within the years.
Enjoy!

Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Pet Of The Week: Meet MURPHY

It’s the KKBN Pet of the week and this week’s winner recieves a $25 Gift Card to Tia’s Tubs and Toys in the Sonora Plaza. Let’s check out this week’s winner!
KKBN,
My name is Chopper. I’m a Bernese/Akita mix. Mom, Dad and I just moved to Angels Camp all the way from South Dakota.
I LOVE rides… but 1400 miles is TOO long!My family rescued me from the Humane Society. Mom knew I was smart so she had me trained and certified me as a service animal! I know a lot of words and respond to around 50 commands now.
We are new managers at the Angels Inn Motel now. I really like meeting guests. If you have a cookie I like that even more! Kids are my favorite. At first they’re skeptical because I’m so big… but I’ve convinced most of them I’m just a big Teddy bear!
We’ve met a lot of great people so far… Mom says this is a Kindness Zone and you can really see why! Everyone has been very welcoming!
Thank you for considering me in your contest. I’ve included my picture too. Its me riding on our golf cart.

Congratulation to this little pup! Our KKBN Pet of The Week! Let’s find out more…
Meet “Summer”, she is a 4 month old Doberman Pinscher. She is such a happy and sweet girl. Her favorite activities are to run and chew. I brought her home 2 weeks ago and decided to find a radio station to keep her company during my absence. I wanted one that had soothing songs with talking unlike my usual classical music. I found “the cabin” and started listening to the songs and little did I know I would be hooked.
When my husband came home from work he couldn’t believe his ears. So not only did I get the puppy of my dreams, I found out I love country music. - KKBN Pet Of The Week (8/16/11)
Congratulations to this Lab/Pointer Mix, named Callie. Check out why she’s the winner below
Meet Callie, our 5-year-old Labrador/pointer mix and nomination for Pet of the Week. She might not be smelling the roses in this photo, but she’s certainly smelling the daffodils and loving her life in rural Sonora!
We rescued Callie from the Yolo County SPCA 3 years ago. She is a product of our struggling economy. Her former family lost their home to foreclosure and could not keep Callie or their other 2 dogs. Their misfortune was certainly our gain when we were able to rehome this great girl. She is goofy, loving, and the best dog and companion ever! Like most Labs, she loves to retrieve and EAT!

Another week means another amazing pet picture and this week, this horse was destined to win! Check out the smile on this little philly, who’s name is Destiny! Congratulations!
This is Destiny, she is a 3 yr. old mini filly, she joined our family last from November. We got her from the auction, and when we first brought her home she was so scared and didn’t trust people after some time and alot of love she has turned out to be such a sweet heart, and she is really smiling, she smiles when you scratch her, as you can see she loves it.

Congratulations to one of the coolest dogs in the Mother Lode! Meet Willie,
I would like to introduce you to the sweetest Dog in Sonora. He has caught everyones attention each time we walk down town or even when we have him ride in the pick up with us. We are told time and time again that “He is the cutest dog I have ever seen”.
He is a rescue dog from Sacramento and he stole our hearts when we went to the vets office to meet him.
He has some corgie in him and we think he has some golden retriever also. His legs are very short like the corgie and he has beautiful colors of a golden.
He plays silly willy with us and runs circles thru the house as well as off leash in the park at times.
Willy is loved by so many people and we just want you to know that He would serve our community well as “Pet of the Week”.
God Bless,
Jolyne and Rick Croslin

We love Mutts here at KKBN, just look at Big Joe. Congratulations to this week’s winner of the KKBN Pet Of The Week Award: Meet Sassy
This is Sassy. She is 9 months old. She was rescued from the Stockton Pound when she was 6 weeks old. She weighed 2 pounds 2 ozs when we brought her home. They had to give her a flee treatment cause half the hair on her body was missing. My daughter who was going through Vet Tech school at the time and working at the pound for her rotation. They asked her if she would foster her and get her back to good health. But I fell in love with her and I adopted her. She is so sweet. We really don’t know what her breed is, but that’s ok. She is the perfect lap dog.
- KKBN Pet Of The Week (07/05/11)
Friendship is the best, especially between our KKBN Pets of the week:
This is Dixie (miniature dachshund), Daisy (redbone coonhound) and Dot (their toy teddy). Dixie helped us rescue Daisy when we found her after being “on her own” in the forest for quite some time. she is the most loving and compassionate girl and has taken quite well to our family of cats and dogs. Daisy has been with us for just over two weeks and Dixie and she have become the best of friends. she is a blessed addition to our family

Congratulations to these little winners for more than just the picture. These birds were about to be homeless or even worse. Here’s the story:
We saved these tiny Stellar Jays from a fate worse than death when construction forced us to move their nest – we took the chance that their parents would disown them. Fear not, after a racket of a search party on Friday, Mama and Papa found their young ones and were soon feeding them – amidst the clang of hammers and drills. The nest is within two feet of our outdoor dining area, everyone is quite happy with the arrangement! We think the Mama and Papa know that somehow they can totally trust us – but they take great precaution to make sure no other creature in the trees around us sees them go to the nest! Great parents and darling little ones!
It’s The KKBN Pet Of The Week Contest! Brought to you by:
